More Questions about EPB Phone Service?
The EPB's phone service is $25.95 per month. What will my bill actually be (with all the taxes, fees and so on)?
Our monthly rate is $25.95 per month with all the useful and convenient features you see above, free long distance calls to the Bowling Green area and an exceptional long distance rate. However, your monthly bill won't be $25.95. Regardless of your telephone provider, there are a multitude of required government fees, taxes and other charges. These charges are the same from one company to the next (although the charges can be different because of where you live, city or county school district and so on). Call us at 651-8341 if you'd like a quote of roughly what your service will cost each month. Total monthly cost is usually about $39-$41.
I just want the cheapest, no frills, telephone service available... what will that cost?
The cost for simple phone service (in other words, a phone number and dialtone, but no additional calling features) is $14.95/month for residential service. This is for 1 phone line and is the base rate, not including the required taxes, government fees and so on. WITH the required fees, this bill is about $27/month.

You can still add any additional features you'd like to add and pay for only the features you want (such as Caller ID). Contact us for individual pricing. Also, the price above still includes free long distance calls to Bowling Green (as long as you use our long distance). There is no monthly fee just to have CCC/EPB long distance.

Calls are free to the Bowling Green area. Exactly what calling exchanges (???-1234) are "free long distance"?
Free Bowling Green exchanges include: 202, 282, 303, 320, 357, 392, 393, 438, 467, 495, 535, 548, 549, 715, 721, 745, 746, 777, 779, 780, 781, 782, 783, 784, 790, 791, 792, 793, 796, 799, 842, 843, 846, 901, 936, 991 and 996. Note that calls to the Bowling Green area are free only when you have the EPB as your long distance provider.
In addition to the above Bowling Green area exchanges, what other areas are a local call? (these are if you're calling from 651, 678, 361, 614, 629, 670, 710 & 834 - for other calling areas, see your phone booklet)
Glasgow and Glasgow suburban (651, 678, 260, 261, 308,361, 404, 479, 576, 579, 590, 614, 629, 659, 670, 710, 834), Cave City (773), Edmonton (432), Fountain Run (434), Gamaliel (457), Hiseville (453, 701), Lucas (381, 646, 814), Park City (749), Summer Shade (428) and Temple Hill (427) are all local calls.
I'm interested in the EPB's service. What do I need to do to get it?
Call us! We're working on expanding our telephone service area to include the county as well as the Lucas and Hiseville areas. If service is not yet available in your area, you can be added to the waiting list to get the first callbacks.
Do I need a special kind of telephone? Can I use my existing phone?
Although EPB service works over the cable lines, your regular phone is all you need. Since Deluxe Caller ID is included with the service, you'll probably want a phone with the Caller ID display or a separate unit to display the name and number (however, this is not necessary, you just won't be able to see the information without something to display it). Caller ID units are very inexpensive and are available locally.
What actually happens at my installation?
An EPB technician or a licensed contractor will need access to your home to install a new piece of equipment and hook up a new line to your existing phone wiring. Your home DOES NOT have to be rewired if it's working for you already (Note: If you are keeping your phone number from another company, a lot of things have to happen in the background, but all you have to do is contact us - more information on this below).
Will the EPB be printing a phone book?
We won't be printing a phone book. However, a local company prints the Official EPB phone book, based on input from customers (and it's pictured at the left!). This is the most complete phone book available for our area. Pick up your copy at the EPB office, free of charge, if you don't have one already! EPB phone numbers will be printed in these books as they become available. Business customers will still appear in the Yellow Pages.
I want to keep my current phone number. Should I call Windstream/SCRTC and disconnect?
No - No - No! If you want to keep your current phone number, you MUST NOT call Windstream (formerly Alltel) or SCRTC and tell them you want to disconnect. If you do that, you just gave them back that number. If you wish to keep your current number, just let us know and we will contact them for you. This is the only way to assure that you can keep your current number!
I've been using a cellphone as my primary phone. Can I keep my mobile number when I switch to the EPB's service?
Land-based phone companies do not have "interconnect agreements" with mobile phone companies. You'll have to get a new phone number.
How will I be billed for EPB service?
All phone charges are added to your current billing, whether that's through the mail or through the convenience of e-billing.
Is there a fee to switch to EPB phone service?
Would we do that to you? No way. There is no fee to switch.
Can I get the EPB's phone service if I don't have your cable TV service?
As long as you live where you have access to the EPB's other services, you can get our telephone service.
I like my current Long Distance provider. Can I keep them AND get EPB phone service?
If you want local service only (no Long Distance), the EPB can provide it. However, your current Long Distance provider will still charge you their rates for calls made to Bowling Green (at their "per minute" cost, whatever that might be). In other words, to get free local calling to Bowling Green, you must have our long distance.
