The Ladies Matinee Musicale was organized in 1894 and the founders declared "Our goal is to make music an integral part of our community life." Since that long-ago gathering, the organization has striven to achieve that goal through its work. Just as our community has changed, so has the membership now known as the Glasgow Musicale and inclusive of men. In 1948, Barren County celebrated it sesquicentennial (or 150th anniversary) with many activities and one was the largest parade ever to occur in Glasgow and it was also the largest local public gathering in our history.
