Guess Who Won The Bet..?
Picture Featured:    October 03, 2001 Guess Who Won The Bet..?
Guess who won the friendly little wager?
The photo above shows one possible outcome of losing a bet at the EPB. After some serious "trash talking," Wade England and David Downing came up with the challenge of an eating contest. The loser of the contest would have to wear a sash for one week around the office and also wear it one time when the guys went out to eat. As you can see, although David looks a little unhappy in the picture, they're still friends. By the way, the sash was designed by the winner. You'll have to ask David where the title "Lil' Miss Sally" originated.

Picture Featured:    October 18, 2001 American Heart Walk 2001
Kristen Mitchell sent us these photos. She writes:
Bill, attached are two pics from last Saturday's American Heart Walk. Thought you might oblige me again by making them the photos of the day on the site.

"The Barren County Heart Walk 2001 was held Saturday, October 13, kicking off at South Gate Plaza. Over 500 people braved the weather in order to participate in the event. The community goal was set at $30,000 for this year's fundraiser. That goal was met and surpassed when teams turned in more than $50,000, thus making the Barren County area the highest percentage increase at 66% in the tri-state region. Top team TJ Samson turned in more than $5,000, followed by South Central Bank offering more than $4,000 and Hart County Health Care, turning in more than $3,000. Waldeen Settle of South Central Bank was named the event's top walker, raising more than $2,300 personally to benefit the American Heart Assoication.

The planning committee for this year's event wishes to extend a heart-felt thanks to the people of Glasgow and Barren County who worked so hard to make this year's heart walk a resounding success."

Thanks for everything your company has done to help us promote this event!

Best regards,
Kristen Mitchell

Maureen Hendrick at the Glasgow Highland Games sent us this photo a few days ago. She writes:
Bill,
If the rain doesn't stop, Santa is going to be slipping off a lot of roofs, like he has at our home! We heard him say, "Call T.J. Samson, I'm going to need traction!"

Mike Padgett sent us this photo and writes:
Rosana Padgett's "English as a Second Language" Class of the Barren County Adult Education, located at the Hillcrest Annex on Roseville Road, recently celebrated Christmas. Pictured are the students in one of the classes Mrs. Padgett teaches. The Barren County Board of Education offers free classes to all those who want to learn English. Mrs. Padgett lived in Costa Rica for eleven years and speaks Spanish. "This helps break the ice and makes it more comfortable for the Hispanics trying to learn English," she stated. For more information about free classes, call 678-4004.
