Strom damage yesterday afternoon. Thnakful no one was hurt. But Chad Livingston's blazaer didn't make it thur. We had many trees down on jackson hwy. One landed on our front proch.

I obtained the following pics on Hwy 68/80 today while trying to get home before the storm hit. Sadly, I missed home by 2 minutes and had to wait out the storm at a safe location until it was safe to drive again. These were taken just before you get to the A.L. Shirley Road and on down to where the Windy Hill Store was. I hope you can use them.

A bulldozer moves dirt on the bank between Fort Williams and the 31-E Bypass. Paul Bragg of the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery told the WebMeister, "We're filling in old drains that haven't worked very well. This will also help keep the ditches from washing out." Considering our recent heavy rains, this sounds like a great idea.

Work continues on the latest addition to the hospital. According to the community hospital's Mark Edwards, the first floor of the new wing will contain Outpatient, In-patient Admitting and a new ER with 18 rooms (current ER has 8). The 2nd floor will have 20 private stepdown rooms and the 3rd floor will host OB with 14 private rooms. The 4th floor will host the Lab and a Residents'-on-call sleeping room. Other areas will include a new business office, Cardiology and Recovery. The new construction has been planned so that three more stories could be added in the future. The current facility is about 200,000 square feet. The new wing will bring the hospital's total to about 321,000 sq. ft!

A gentleman enjoys some shade Friday at the Roller Coaster Fair (this was taken at Mud Lick). Over the years, this annual event has grown to include hundreds of yard sales, bake sales and fundraisers of all types. It runs the length of Hwy. 63, roughly from Mammoth Cave through Glasgow, Temple Hill and Tompkinsville, all the way to Celina, Tennessee.

Things are looking different between the Columbia Ave. Church of Christ and E.B. Terry Elementary School. The church is building a 10,000 sq. ft. facility. It will house a large meeting room, additional classrooms and a large kitchen. The building is scheduled to be completed by Thanksgiving.

The local Kiwanis Club got together Saturday morning to help clean up the Bypass. Wayne Pedigo, a Journeyman Lineman for the EPB, was at the Barren Co. Area Vocational Technical Center Wednesday conducting a demonstration on high voltage for Mr. Felkins' classes. Wayne built the working display model seen in the photo. In addition to being a model of how electrical distribution works, it also shows the dangerous effects of high voltage. Notice the smoke? The arrow is pointing to a hot dog being zapped with 480 volts!
