ParkWatch Now Includes a Reward for Information

MCNP managers are asking local residents to report any suspicious activity to rangers at a toll-free number, (888) 219-1599. Rewards are available for information leading to successful prosecution and conviction for crimes committed in the park. Recent marijuana finds in the park and the surrounding counties have prompted rangers to ask for the public's help.

Mammoth Cave initiated the ParkWatch program several years ago and it has been a help to the law enforcement staff. To increase its effectiveness, Ranger David Alexander (in the photo) has been appointed the park's drug enforcement coordinator.

"Folks who provide information can remain anonymous and need not worry about us giving out their names," explained Alexander. "Everything they give us will remain totally confidential. We're more concerned about the quality of the information than we are about the name of the information source."
