The Mammoth Cave National Park/Mammoth Cave Hotel Partnership was selected as a recipient of the 2003 Department of the
Interior Environmental Achievement Awards for Environmental Leadership through Cooperation and Partnership.
Mammoth Cave NP Deputy Superintendent Bruce Powell and Forever/NPC Senior Vice President Bill Butts traveled to Washington, DC on Nov. 6 to receive the award on behalf of park and hotel employees.
The park and hotel have established many environmentally preferable
practices ranging from alternatively fueled vehicles and equipment, water saving fixtures and a strong recycling program. The stormwater filtering system now being installed at the park's major parking lots will catch and remove pollutants before they drain into the cave.
